ByRobot Lightrone Review

f you missed CES 2018 in Las Vegas this year, you really did miss out on an amazing show. The atmosphere in Las Vegas was lively as always, but it didn’t take my attention away from the CES as the CES was the main thing I went for. Being a major drone fanatic myself, I was mostly focused on the drones that are set to be released in 2018. Take it from me, if you’re looking for a good drone, there are many different ones coming out by some well-known companies. Today, I am here to tell you about the ByRobot Lightrone, which just came out not too long ago and was something I had the opportunity to see at the CES.

Looking at the package that the ByRobot Lightrone comes in, I can’t help but to be captivated by the color. They definitely did a great job with the box, but is the drone itself everything you would expect it to be? Let’s find out …

About ByRobot

Some people have never heard of this company, and that can be understandable when you’re mostly focused on UVify, DJi and all of those other drone companies. So, before I get started on the review, I would like to give you a little introduction to the company.

ByRobot has been in business for 15+ years with engineers that are passionate about the advancement of robotic technologies in industrial, commercial and military sectors. Their key technologies include wireless communication, embedded systems, computer vision, and sensor fusion.

The Lightrone is their third generation model as a racing drone, which has a wide Angle Lens Camera. It has an adorable design with lights and offers a great flight experience.

Controller

The controller looks tiny, but when I pick it up, I can’t help but to notice how comfortable it is. Really, it’s just a basic controller. When playing with the thumbstick, I didn’t feel a spring, so I automatically assumed there’s not going to be any altitude control, but next to the joystick, there’s an altitude hold on/off button. The sticks don’t click in, but there’s trigger buttons.

The controller has a place where you can mount the screen, which is really nice.

Screen

When you turn the screen on, it’s take you straight into the menu. I was amazed when I discovered that it had a DVR and on the side of the screen, there’s a MicroSD card slot, so you can record your video.

The drone has lights on it and what’s really neat is the fact that you can change those colors. You can choose between red, yellow, green, blue, dark blue, purple and white. I prefer the purplish color.

Flying

The drone always seems to self-level, which comes in handy. There’s four levels of pitching for your rates.

Recording

Recording is easy to do – all you have to do is push enter on top of the screen.

Who the ByRobot Lightrone is for

I personally believe the ByRobot Lightrone is suitable for beginners. So, if you’ve never had a drone before, this could be your first racing drone. I believe it would make a great gift for an older child (they’d have a lot of fun with it).

Conclusion

All in all, I believe this is a nice little drone. Unfortunately though, if you’re looking for something that is a bit more professional, this drone isn’t suitable for you. It is, however, suitable for those that are just looking for a drone that they can fly around their home (you can fly this inside your house) and have fun with.
